FAQ

What is your primary counseling approach?
My primary counseling approach is Bowen Family Systems Theory. Bowen Theory differs from mainstream psychology in many ways; it is a natural systems approach to understanding and describing human behavior. Bowen Theory describes the family as an emotional unit and describes behavioral patterns as “adaptive” instead of pathological. Do you take insurance?
No, I currently do not take insurance, but I am willing to provide my clients with a paid-in-full receipt of service to provide to their insurance companies for possible reimbursement. I can also provide a superbill upon request. Please speak to your insurance company about their requirements for reimbursement prior to scheduling an appointment with me.
-
Do you provide Good Faith Estimates?
Yes! According to the No Surprises Act (NSA), a Good Faith Estimate is provided to uninsured and self-pay clients prior to the first appointment. The Good Faith Estimate contains a summary of expected costs for counseling services within a specified period of time (e.g. annual total expected costs).
-
What types of payment do you accept?
Payments are accepted through IvyPay, a HIPAA-compliant payment platform. IvyPay accepts credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Payments can also be made by cash or check if needed. Payments must be remitted at the end of each session.
-
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
I offer what I like to call “pay what you can afford” rates. While these spots are limited, I try to accommodate any client who is experiencing significant financial hardship. If you believe that you may qualify for this rate, please reach out to me directly prior to scheduling an appointment and we will discuss possible options and next steps!
-
What days are you available for counseling and/or consultations?
My office hours for counseling and consultations are:
Mondays: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Tuesdays: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Wednesdays: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Thursdays: 9:00am - 5:00pmFor workshops, trainings, or conference requests, I am available to meet outside of office hours. Please contact me to discuss!
-
How frequently do clients typically meet with you?
Many of my clients see me on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. I believe that it’s important to give clients time in between sessions to “put in the work.” This provides my clients with an opportunity to practice what they learn, make new observations, and problem-solve without becoming too reliant on the counseling process. However, every client’s situation is unique and I encourage you to advocate for your specific needs.
-
Do you offer EMDR?
I do not offer EMDR services to clients. However, I believe that EMDR is a great resource and tool and pairs very well with a Bowen Theory approach; EMDR focuses more on regulating the automatic and subconscious aspects of emotional reactivity, whereas I focus more on supporting clients as they learn to actively and consciously regulate that reactivity through thoughtful action, systems-focused work, and personal reflection.
I am happy to provide referrals to any of my clients who are looking to supplement their counseling with EMDR.

Do you offer supervision?
As an LPC in Texas, I cannot offer supervision to LPC-Associates at this time. I am currently working towards my LPC-S license, and will update my availability at a future date.
However, I am currently available to offer supervision to graduate student counselors and counseling interns in Texas who are completing their practicums and internships as a part of their graduate school requirements.
I recommend that you review your program requirements and your practicum/internship handbook to ensure that I meet the licensure criteria for your school and the state of Texas. Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries!
-
Do you work with kids?
I prefer to work with clients who are at least 15 years old. However, I may make exceptions for family sessions. In those cases, I may decide to see the parents (or legal guardians) and children together as a unit. It is most beneficial for me to work with the member (or members) of the family unit that are highly motivated to create change. This is usually an individual with some amount of agency in the family unit, such as a parent or primary caregiver.
-
I live outside of Texas, can you counsel me?
Unfortunately, no - because my license is restricted to providing professional counseling services in the state of Texas, I am not able to legally or ethically counsel anyone who resides outside of the state.
While the Counseling Compact is currently underway in several states across the USA (Arizona, Ohio, and Minnesota), Texas is not yet an active member which means cross-state counseling for LPC’s is not yet ethical or legal.
However, I can provide non-therapeutic consultation services to clients and organizations residing in different states who are seeking support. Please contact me to learn more.
-
Do you travel for consultations or workshops?
Yes! I am available for hire to consult or speak/teach at conferences, workshops, and trainings across the USA and abroad - and I would love to add more locations to this list.
